Newsletter March 14-17, 2016

Star Student: Lochlyn Bell- We do not need snack this week.

We are reviewing the letters Bb and Dd this week.

We are reviewing numbers 0-18 this week.

We are reviewing the colors: blue and purple

We are reviewing the sight words big and did.

We are going to pack a lot in this week!  We are going to be reviewing the above items as well as talking about St. Patrick's Day, Easter (since we will be on Spring break for Holy Week), Wednesday we will be having our 100th day of school, and Thursday we will be having our fieldtrip to ECS to see The Little Mermaid Jr.

Reminder- parents are not invited to the ECS fieldtrip.  ECS only allows us enough seats for teachers and kids.

For our 100th day of school I am asking that each child bring 100 of something to add to the rest of the class to make a special 100th day snack mix. Examples of things to send are 100: cheerios, raisins, goldfish, vanilla wafers, gummy bears, fruit loops, cheezits, teddy grahams, marshmallows, m&m, skittles, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, etc.  Please go ahead and have your child open the snack at home, wash their hands, and have them count out 100 of whatever they are bringing in.  Put those 100 items in a Ziploc baggie. We are going to combine everyone's snacks.

We had a blast this last week looking at different Dr. Seuss books.
We read:
1.  Fox in Socks and talked about rhyming words.
2. One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and then sorted rainbow goldfish crackers, counted them, and wrote the correct number.  We also made fish with our hands.
3.  Oh the Places you will go and made hot air balloons.
4.  Green Eggs and Ham. After reading we tried "green eggs" AKA vanilla pudding colored green with a vanilla wafer in the center to look like a green fried egg.
5.  The foot book.  We traced and the kids cut out their feet and measured how big their feet were with unifix cubes.  We talked about who had the biggest and smallest feet in the class.  They then measured the hallway upstairs with their feet.
6.  The Cat in the Hat. We made thing hats.  Sorry the tape was not holding the hair on very well.
7. The Lorax- The kids painted Truffula trees.
8.  We read the Butter Battle Book and made homemade butter.  We enjoyed homemade butter and crackers for snack one day.

This week:

Monday-

Tuesday- I will out in the morning.  I will be returning by lunch time. Miss Jamie will be my sub for the morning.

Wednesday- Chapel

Thursday- Our make-up fieldtrip to the library is today!  I will be leaving early today.  Mrs. Brandy will be with the kids in the afternoon.  Tuition and Cap and Gown forms  are due today!  If you do not turn in the cap and gown form your child will not have a cap and gown for graduation.  Even if they are returning next year you need to order a cap and gown this year.  You will be able to use the same one next year.
