Week of March 3, 2014

I think everyone enjoyed themselves on the fieldtrip to CMOE. Here are some pictures for those of you who were not able to join us. Some of us even wore ourselves out!

                                                        Ava getting her face painted
Kameron watching the ball fly through the air.
Mariah, Ava, and Evelyn playing in the bead table.
Mariah and Ava smiling this time.
                                                        Maddie driving the truck.
                                                    Kora, Kameron playing lego cars.
                                                            Kade wearing his hard hat.
Lane and Aaron racing their lego cars.
                                                       Noah playing with tools.
Mindy (Aaron's mom) keeping her brain sharp.
                                                          Noah building a bridge.
                                                    Abigail pushing the wheel barrow.
                                                        Kameron helping build the bridge.
Isabella digging in the shredded tire with her safety glasses on.
Henry playing in the bead table.
Our entire class in or around the backhoe bucket.
Max and I believe Ty playing with an air drum in the water room.
Max was worn out and fell asleep on the bus on the way back to school. So precious!

This week Ava is our star student
The letter of the week is Dd
The number of the week is 17.
The sight word of the week is: did
The memory verse is:  Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
The color of the week is green

Since Sunday is Dr Seuss' birthday we are going to spend the entire week celebrating by doing activities with a different book each day of the week.

Wednesday we will be reading Wacky Wednesday so we are asking that the kids come dressed Wacky.  This could be clothing, hair, etc.  Let you imagination go wild!

We are in need of fine point dry erase markers (not the fat ones).  We are running low do to drying out and we use them A LOT!

This last week we sent home forms for caps and gowns for graduation.  The price is $17 for the cap and gown.  We are using the red ones for those who have siblings who have already graduated.  You may use those if you wish.  If you are going to use a siblings cap and gown and want a new tassel with the '14 on it then please let us know that and it will only cost you $2 for the tassel.  Once graduation is over the caps and gowns will be yours to do whatever you want.    I believe the money for those are due by March 20th so that we can get them ordered in plenty of time for graduation.

If you have any questions or concerns please let Amy or me know.

I hope to see everyone Monday (but I am not holding my breath).  We will see what mother nature has in store for us.  Stay safe and warm!

Week of February 24-28, 2014

STAR STUDENT: Adlee
LETTER OF THE WEEK: Bb
NUMBER OF THE WEKK: 16
SIGHT WORD OF THE WEEK: Big
COLOR OF THE WEEK: Brown

In class we have been working on two things:
1.  Saying (not singing) the ABC's- We do this by getting in a circle and going around with each child giving the next letter in the series.  You can do this at home by going back and forth with the child telling what letter comes next. For Example: You say A, Child says B, You would say C, etc.

2.  Writing our names correctly.  This means only capitalizing the first letter with all the rest lower case.  This also means writing it in a left to right fashion on a line.  We are trying to help those that are still making letters backward too.

NEWS FOR THE WEEK:

We will be making up our fieldtrip this Thursday.  Parents and welcome and encouraged to attend.  Admission for anyone coming will be $5.50.  You will pay this at the door when you arrive at CMOE.  Just let them know that you are with the HFYH fieldtrip.  The children are welcome to ride the bus with us from school and then back to school.  The bus will be leaving by 8:30 am. We are asking the kids to be there by 8:15.  The bus will NOT wait on anyone. If you miss the bus you will need to meet us at CMOE. If you plan on driving your child to the fieldtrip please let Amy or I know so that we do not worry about them missing the bus.  We will be returning to school in time for morning dismissal.  Full-day kids are welcome to stay the whole day.

Friday is a snow make-up day.  There WILL be school on FRIDAY!  This day will run as any other with early arrival, half and full day classes.

CLASSROOM NEEDS:

We are in need of prizes for our treasure box.  This can be things like McDonald's toys, pencils, stickers, any kind of trinket.

We are also running low on shaving cream.  Does not need to be anything fancy. If you find some cheap please pick it up.

Thanks for all your support of us and our classroom.  We really appreciate it!

Week of February 17, 2014

My deepest apologies, I went to download the pictures from the Chinese New Year event only to find out that my SD card in my camera went bad and they are not on there.

THERE IS SCHOOL ON MONDAY- originally Monday was a vacation day for President's Day, but due to snow we are using it as a snow make-up day.  Everything will run as usual.

Letter of the week-Pp
Number of the week-15
Color of the week-Purple
Memory Verse- Put your trust in the Lord.

There was homework and a Pp bag sent home in your child's folder today. Please return on Monday!

Since Monday is Presidents Day and we are also working on the letter Pp we are asking that you send in a bag of pennies with your child on Monday.  We are going to be doing a craft with them.  You will get them back, but they will have glue on them.

On Tuesday we will be participating in the HFYH Olympics.  We ask that you dress your children appropriately.  They will be active so please no dresses or skirts without shorts under them and please have them wear shoes they can run around in.

On Wednesday we will be discussing Moses some more in Chapel.

Thursday we are asking that the children please wear purple if they have it.

Upcoming info:

We are going to be making up some of the days with we have missed.  We have chosen 4 Fridays that we will be in session.  On these days we will run just like any normal day (except that it will be a Friday).  Those dates are: February 28, March 7, March 14, and March 21.

If you know of anyone who may be looking to join the HFYH family next year please send them to our website at http://www.homeforyourheartschool.blogspot.com/.  Spaces are going VERY quickly.  we only have about 40 spaces available center wide.  If they are interested they need to talk to Stephanie and Nicki now!

Thank you for all the goodies that were sent in for our Valentine's party.  I do not think anyone was disappointed!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's weekend!

Week of February 10, 2014

I am so sorry I have not gotten pictures posted from our Chinese New Year event.  Maybe if we have more than 2 normal days this week I will get that done.

This week:
1.  Madison is the star student this week.
2.  The letter of the week will be O.
3.  The number of the week will be 14 again. We did not get a chance to work on it like we wanted to.
4.  Sight word of the week is on.
5.  The color of the week is pink.  If they have something pink we ask that they wear it on Thursday.
6.  Memory verse: God said," I will be with you."

Thursday if the kids would like they may bring Valentines for each of the kids in the class.  We have 22 kids in the class.  Please do not address to any certain child.  Leave that part blank.  Just have your child sign his/her name on the cards, so we know who they are from.

We have rescheduled the fieldtrip to CMOE for Thursday, February 27th.  The bus will leave school at 8:30 am.

Here's hoping for a full week of school!
