This week our star student is Delaney Taylor.  Please bring snack for 3 days for 9 kids.  We have a small stock pile of snacks so I am going to use those on the 4th day.

This week we will be learning about the letter Jj.  We will be doing many activities that revolve around the birth of Jesus.  We will continue to review the shapes and numbers that we have already learned this year.  Our memory verse for the week is "For God so loved the world, He gave his one and only son."  I have given the kids a challenge of learning the memory verse.  If they can recite it to me correctly by Thursday then I will given them a special treat. This week in chapel the topic is going to be The King is Born!

If you are decorating a Christmas tree that is due on Monday!  I can not wait to see all your wonderful creations!

Please make sure that your child has an appropriate coat.  If it is above a feels like of 32 and dry we will be going outside for some much needed fresh air.

Upcoming Events:

Our Christmas Program is Thursday, December 18th at 10:30 am at Main Campus. The kids will report to school as usual that day.  NO BACKPACKS!  Kids may wear whatever you want to put on them.  Please remember that they may possibly be walking up and down stairs and risers.  Also, for the little girls I would not recommend a short skirt.  The audience seating is lower than the stage we will be on.  I will notify you closer to time of where to pick the kids up after the program.  They will be leaving from the program.

We will be closed from December 19-January 4. School will resume on Monday, January 5, 2015.

Reminder that we will be going a little longer on Thursday too.  Pick up time is at noon.  The longer day is due to everyone be dismissed half day.  In order to help with the parking lot not getting quite so crazy we will dismiss from the chapel as normal but at noon instead of 11:40.

Please make sure that they have a spare set of clothing in their backpacks that are season appropriate.  Also, please make sure they have a season appropriate coat.  We will be going outside if it is dry enough and if the feels like temperature is at least 32 degrees.  With all the bugs that go around this time of the year we all need that fresh air.

* We will be having parent-teacher conferences on Monday, November 24 from 8:30-12:00.  The sign up sheet is hanging outside the classroom door. Please sign up for a time. I will have the toy area opened for those that need to bring  your kids with you. However, I have only allotted 20 minutes per student.

* December 4th HFYH will be closing at noon.  Pre-K will release at noon instead of 11:40 that day so that preschool has more time to get more of their parents out of the parking lot.  We will still release from the chapel doors.

A  request:
As the temperatures begin to drop I have already noticed that some of our little hands are beginning to chap and crack.  If someone could please supply us with a bottle of the alcohol free hand sanitizer it would save a lot of tears.

September 29- October 2, 2015

HIGHLIGHT FROM LAST WEEK!

Wednesday HFYH students and staff took part in See You at the Pole.  This occurs on the 4th Wednesday in September. It is always moving to see our entire school sitting around the flag pole in the parking lot while Mrs. Nicki prays for our school, families, country, and world.

It was such a beautiful day on Wednesday that we took our work outside.  I think most the kids really enjoyed doing their work outside!

Sorry Delany I do not know how I missed you!

THE UPCOMING WEEK:

This week our star student is going to be Bryer.
Our letter of the week is going to be Nn.
Our shape of the week is going to be circle.
Our number of the week is 6.
Our memory verse is going to be On Day 6 God made animals and people.

On Monday for Music we are going to be learning some fall finger plays and songs.

Since we are discussing that on day 6 God made animals and people the students may bring a stuffed animal to school with them on Wednesday.  Also on Wednesday we are going to have a guest speaker during our chapel time.  Animal Encounters are going to be bringing in some animals to show to us.  I am sure that everyone is going to get very excited!

This week I am going to be moving some of our learning into seasonal centers.  We will still be doing the numbers, letters, etc, but I am trying to keep things fun!

This last week you may have noticed a rectangle book come home.  I am going to try and do a book a week with the kids.  Although most are having problems writing they are doing a great job at recognizing letters and sight words.  I have found some repetitive books that we are going to use.  We will have read through them a few times before they come home.  Feel free to enjoy them at home with your child.  This week's book will be able the lifecycle of a pumpkin.

Reminder: Wednesday is October 1st.  Therefore, tuition is due.  Your invoices should have come home in their binders today!

Thursdays are Library day.  Please help your child remember to return their books no later than Thursday morning.  I had a couple that forgot to bring theirs back.  There were some tears this morning when they were not able to get one this week.

There will be no homework this coming week!

Many of you have asked if your child is struggling since I have written to practice certain things at home on the tops of papers.  There is no one in the class that should not be.  I just want to make everyone aware of areas that you specific child could use some extra help.  I am trying to give each of them the push they need.  Kindergarten expects a lot and I am trying to help each succeeds to the best of their ability.  I don't want anyone to be shocked when we have parent-teacher conferences later in the year.  If you have any concerns please feel free to contact me.

Upcoming Events:

October 13th will be our first pre-K fieldtrip of the year.  We will be going to Mayse Farm.  The bus will leave school at 8:30 am.

September 22-25, 2014

What a wonderful week we had this week.  I am so proud of Mrs. Amy's class and our class.  Combined we are one of the smallest classes at HFYH together we collected $167.45 in the penny war this week.  That averages out to over $10 per student.  WAY TO GO! Easton L. was the lucky student who was able to throw a pie in Mrs. Becky's face!  Although I teased the students a lot this week about not wanting a pie in the face it was for a good cause and it is so much fun to be able to be silly with the kids!

This coming week we will be working on the letter Mm, #5, On day 5 God made the birds and fish will be our memory verse, our sight word will be me, and our shape is rectangle.

Jayde will be our star student this week.

As I see things that individual kids need to work on I will email you.  I am going to try and put something together in their binders so that you can help work on things at home too.

September 8-11, 2014

Let me begin by saying I am so glad that we were able to end the week with 100 percent attendance.  It is always difficult to keep everyone well, but this was a difficult week for this room of boys and girls!  I will continue with the sanitizing of hands, desks, books, writing utensils, and toys.

Disregard the email I sent out about library books.  As long as they are returned to school prior to Thursday at 9:00 am they will be allowed to check out a book at library time.  It was brought to my attention that not all students that returned books got a book this week.  I will keep an eye on this in the future.  Sorry for any problems this may have caused.

Ask you child about the experiment we did at school on Friday.  I think they all liked seeing the volcano we made in class.  What a fun way to end our Vv week.

If you have not paid your September tuition please send that in ASAP! It was due on the 2nd.

We will be having a fall family picnic on Thursday, September 18th.  Please sign and return the paper that was sent home in their binder on Friday.  Even if you are not attending please send a sack lunch for your kid that day.  I would hate for them not have anything since they will still attend even if they do not have any family.  They will become part of mine for that period of time.

I am very excited with how things are going in our room.  Everyone is really starting to settle in and we are well on our way to learning!  I am so excited to see where this leads them.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

* Fall Family Picnic Thursday, September 18th at 11am.  Please fill out and return the bottom portion of the paper found in your child's binder.

First Week of School

I was so excited to meet everyone Friday night.  I can not wait to get this year started.  We are going to take it easy this first week.  We are going to be working on some cutting, gluing, writing and recognizing our names, and learning the way that we are expected to do things in Pre-K.  We are going to hold off on learning letters, numbers, shapes, and bible truths or verses for another week. I am hoping that by not overloading the kids with so much that they will be able to learn our schedule.  We will start with Music, Chapel, and Library this week.  The kids will not be checking out books this week.  Again we will be going over what is expected of them and they will get to meet the librarians.

Please make sure that your child uses the restroom either at home or at school before coming to class.  We have a scheduled potty break at 9:30 and they will get a chance again at 11:05 when we go to recess.

Please have them hang their backpacks and put their binders in the black crate inside the door.  I am also asking that we get them in the habit of using hand sanitizer as they enter the room.  This will help so that hopefully we can keep illnesses to a minimum.

If you have any paperwork that needs to be turned in please send it in their binder sometime this week.

If you have any questions or concerns about anything please contact me:

Open House

I am very excited to be putting the finishing touches on our new classroom and preparing to meeting all the families I will be working with this school year!  I am overjoyed that you are sharing your children with me and look forward to meeting each and everyone of you at open house this Friday, August 15th 6-8pm.

For those whose last names are A-M I will be seeing you from 6-7pm.  Those with last name of N-Z I will see you from 7-8.  The kids will have the opportunity to explore the room and play with some of the manipulatives in the classroom.  You will be able to find me in room 308.

Please remember to bring you $5 cash supply fee and $1 cash cup fee in an envelope marked with your child's name.  Also, we are asking that you return our enrollment paperwork and $75 pro-rated tuition of the month of August.  You will turn all paperwork and money in the gym.  Also, please bring your school supplies with you so that we are ready to begin learning on Monday.  There will be table set up in there to collect all this information so I have more time to answer any questions you may have and get to know my 7 new students.

Amy and I thank you for allowing us to be apart of your child's life.  We have enjoyed watching them grow physically, socially, and educationally this year. I don't know how many times this last week we have thought back to the earlier part of the year.  While doing report cards we have seen just how much they have actually absorbed!  Thank you for sharing your child with us!

We have enjoyed being their teachers!

Week of April 28- May 1, 2014

Student of the Week: Henry

Letter of the Week: Gg (Our final letter)

Review numbers 1-20. Most students are struggling with their numbers 11-19.  Some can name them when they see them written but can not write it when told what number to write.  This is definitely something to work on before kindergarten!

Review colors: Most if not all students know these.

We are working on learning out phone numbers. We will be working on our addresses too soon!  Please work with them at  home too!

Memory verse: God is love.

Sight word: Go

Monday, April 28th we will be taking graduation pictures.  They will be taken in their caps and gowns.  If you have not sent yours in please do so on Monday! Please wear shoes that you don't mind being in the picture just in case she takes full body shots.  Also, girls this is an excellent time to practice graduation hair so that we are able to get the caps on.  Remember ponytails must be low or not at all, braids are fine and so is hair left down.  Please do not put bows in on Monday!

Also, every student should have come home with a flyer about spring pictures.  We are offering spring pictures this week as well. You choose what day you want them done.  If you did not get the flyer you can see it on the school facebook page.  I also have extra copies at school.  Just let me know and I will get another sent home.

March 24-April 4, 2014

March 24-28- SPRING BREAK NO SCHOOL!

March 31-April 4

Star student- Mariah
Letter of the week  is Qq.
Number of the week is 20.
Color of the week is orange.
Sight word of the week is quit.
Memory verse- in Quietness and trust is your strength.

We are still in need of paper towels and glue sticks.

Full day students will no longer be allowed blankets and/or toys for quiet time.  They are becoming a distraction as they are sharing and then fighting over them.  Also, they will not be allowed in kindergarten.

We are really going to work on not talking out in class after break as well.  We do not want to be harsh, but we also do not want to send your child onto kindergarten with a false realization.  We would prefer to correct them now than to have a new teacher have to do it.

It is hard to believe but we have less than 30 school days left before we will be sending most of these kids off to kindergarten :(

After break we will be back to a normal schedule with class only Monday - Thursday!

Here are some pictures from our 100th day of school!

Letter of the week is Rr.
Memory verse is Rejoice in the Lord always!

If there are any parents that could volunteer to help us out.  On March 18 and 19 (next Tuesday and Wednesday) we are in need of volunteers who would be willing and able to help with lunch supervision and then be willing to take the kids to our room and sit with them while they watch a video.  There would only be 12-13 children.  If there are any half day parents willing to help your child is more than welcome to join the class for lunch and quite time.  This would be from 11:30 -1pm.  Please email me or Amy, text myself or Amy, facebook us, or let us know at school at drop off or pick up.  This is greatly appreciated!

This week Ava is our star student
The letter of the week is Dd
The number of the week is 17.
The sight word of the week is: did
The memory verse is:  Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
The color of the week is green

Since Sunday is Dr Seuss' birthday we are going to spend the entire week celebrating by doing activities with a different book each day of the week.

Wednesday we will be reading Wacky Wednesday so we are asking that the kids come dressed Wacky.  This could be clothing, hair, etc.  Let you imagination go wild!

We are in need of fine point dry erase markers (not the fat ones).  We are running low do to drying out and we use them A LOT!

This last week we sent home forms for caps and gowns for graduation.  The price is $17 for the cap and gown.  We are using the red ones for those who have siblings who have already graduated.  You may use those if you wish.  If you are going to use a siblings cap and gown and want a new tassel with the '14 on it then please let us know that and it will only cost you $2 for the tassel.  Once graduation is over the caps and gowns will be yours to do whatever you want.    I believe the money for those are due by March 20th so that we can get them ordered in plenty of time for graduation.

If you have any questions or concerns please let Amy or me know.

I hope to see everyone Monday (but I am not holding my breath).  We will see what mother nature has in store for us.  Stay safe and warm!

Mrs. Becky
